M-Sand

Manufactured Sand is an excellent replacement for natural river sand. It is crushed fine aggregate produced from a source material and designed for use with concrete in construction. Production generally involves crushing, screening and possibly washing.

WHAT IS M SAND? – EXPLORING THE MEANING OF M SAND
“Necessity is the mother of all invention”

The Story - High demand for sand in a booming construction sector makes it a prized possession. Good quality of concrete is always looking for high-quality sand and river sand does not always hold the answer. Manufactured sand comes as an alternative for river sand. It has many popular names across the globe such as Crushed sand, Rock sand, Greensand, UltraMod Sand, Robo sand, Poabs sand, Barmac sand, Pozzolan sand etc.

THE PRODUCTION

This is the section where everything matters including quality. Manufactured sand can be produced in many ways with the facility of making it available nearby construction sites. These ways are getaways to readily available sand making it much economical and pocket-friendly.

THE EFFECT

This sand is well graded and available in the required proportion.

The absence of organic and soluble compound that affects the setting time and properties of cement is making it a better choice over the river sand if one is looking to maintain the strength of concrete.

The absence of impurities such as clay, dust and silt coatings is helping manufactured sand with increased quality and durability of concrete. Manufactured Sand is obtained from a high-quality hard rock i.e. granite using the top end International technology which is well supported by modern machines to ensure required grading zone for the sand.

Technically manufactured sand must conform to the requirements of Zone-II as per IS 383-1970 and particles finer than 75 µm shall not exceed 15 %. Manufactured sand producers must put Special efforts such as washing of sand by water or dry washing by air in order to restrict particles finer than 75 µm to 15%. Following international norms and global trends will prove beneficial for the producer at the end of the day. As per the people who lead the construction sector such as – Civil engineers, Architects, Builders, and Contractors agree to the fact that the river sand, is lacking in many ways in comparison to manufactured sand.

Presence of other impurities such as coal, bones, shells, mica and silt etc shortens the life of the concrete.
